Personnel Actions

All personnel appointed to a project that is ending should have a new appointment to a different project, or to a university fund, entered into the university Human Resources System. Failure to do so will result in charges continuing to accumulate on a closed account. The Office of Sponsored Programs transfers these charges to the principal investigator’s department.

If a staff member’s employment will be terminated at the conclusion of a sponsored project, it is important that the policies and procedures contained in the Ohio State University Operating Manual be followed. It is university policy that such employees receive advance written notification (normally two weeks) prior to the date of termination. Questions concerning personnel termination actions should be directed to department human resources professionals.

Any unresolved overrun on a sponsored project will be transferred to the principal investigator’s department after the project has been closed.
